High Blood Pressure Diet Watch


When high blood pressure goes untreated for a long time and the heart is forced to pump harder to get the blood to flow, the result is often an enlarged and weakened heart muscle. High blood pressure hurts the arteries and arterioles over time as well. They become scarred and hardened, putting a person at risk for atherosclerosis which may eventually lead to stroke, heart attack, and ultimately death.   In order to regulate and lower the blood pressure, the primarily step that the doctor will advise the patient is to watch the diet and food intakes.  Researchers suggests that blood pressures were reduced with an eating plan that that is low in saturated fats, cholesterol, and any other oil soaked food.  Instead of eating fat saturated foods, patient is highly advised on fruits, vegetables, and low fat milk products, fish, and whole grains.  Reducing the amount of sodium or salt in the diet can help bring blood pressure levels down.  Be careful because sodium is mostly hidden in the diet in other foods like processed and packed or canned foods.  Focus on foods rich in nutrients and minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, protein and fiber.  Always take time in reading the nutrient content or the labels of the package of the packed foods if you wish to eat processed foods.  It is important to know that high blood pressure diet plays a vital part in the increase or stability of the blood pressure.  You may feel deprived at first but always remember that it is for your own good.
