Why Do Hemorrhoids Appear?

Hemorrhoids, also referred to as piles, are engorged and inflamed veins in the anus and the lower rectum.  Hemorrhoids may result from straining during bowel movements or from the increased pressure on these veins during pregnancy, childbirth or even due to low fiber diet, among other causes.  Women often experience hemorrhoids at some stage in pregnancy.  The pressure of the fetus in the abdomen, as well as the hormonal changes brought about by the mother and baby, causes the hemorrhoidal vessels to enlarge. These vessels are also placed under severe pressure during childbirth.  Furthermore, hemorrhoids may be located inside the rectum or anus known as internal hemorrhoids, or they may develop under the skin around the anus or identified as external hemorrhoids.  Hemorrhoids home treatments are done because of common complaints.  Both women and men commonly experience hemorrhoids.  Approximately, half of the population have hemorrhoids by age fifty and they have had to deal with discomfort, itching and rectal bleeding.  Although there are many people who have hemorrhoids, not everybody experience the symptoms.  For the internal hemorrhoids, the most common symptom is bright red blood covering the stool or seen in the toilet bowl.  However, this has a high probability that it may protrude from the anus and outside the body, leading to irritation, pain and bleeding.  This condition is sometimes called as a protruding hemorrhoid.  In addition, symptoms of external hemorrhoids may include tenderness or hard lump around the anus that results when a blood clot clogs through it.   Also, this condition is known as thromboses.  To diagnose a hemorrhoid, the doctor needs to conduct an examination of the anus and rectum and will further perform digital rectal examination in order to evaluate unusual ties.
